The College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Maryland seeks an experienced and strategic Director of Stewardship and Donor Communications to be a thoughtful and strategic partner in the office of development. This position collaborates with 14 academic units and several key centers and institutes to lead administration, auditing and stewardship of more than 300 endowed and current use funds. Directing the process, procedures and tools that enable a structure encouraging best practices and consistency in donor communications throughout the year (segmented by donor interest and giving levels), the director’s activities will include – but not be limited to – managing the acknowledgement process; producing high-level reports for our most generous donors; developing high-level correspondence and touch points from the dean; producing targeted specialized stewardship and cultivation events; and supporting the Assistant Dean of Development in managing volunteer advisory groups associated with the dean’s office. The director manages a stewardship coordinator who supports the implementation of activities and strategies, and also collaborates with college development staff and central development colleagues. Essential qualifications and skills of the position include: excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of the donor gift agreement process, as well as the tracking of spendable income associated with endowed funds; a proven strategic leader who understands a donor-centric fundraising program.
