Remote: Director of Development and Marketing

EveryCat Health Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the health of cats by providing funding for feline specific health research and education internationally since 1968. Over $10 million in feline specific health studies at more than 30 partner institutions worldwide to date. EveryCat sponsors education events on feline health topics for veterinarians, technicians, breeders and cat owners. The main objective of this position is to help develop and implement strategies to raise money in support of the organization, cultivate and enlist new donors and retain, renew, and grow existing ones through direct efforts and facilitation of fundraising efforts by the Executive Director and Board of Directors. The Director must be conversant with current trends in charitable giving and philanthropy, best practices of non-profit organizations generally, as well as proficient relative to Major Gifts, Planned Giving and Comprehensive Campaigns.  We are looking for someone who is forward thinking and is driven to grow the organization with us. 

SUMMARY
The Director of Development and Marketing will actively manage the Foundation’s donor relations program and fundraising initiatives and all related marketing, working closely with the small staff team and Board of Directors. This position is responsible for developing, overseeing, and implementing fundraising campaigns and communicating with current and prospective donors. You will manage individual and foundation gifts as well as annual and comprehensive giving campaigns. You will lead fundraising research, writing and reporting while working to identify Foundation needs and oversee as well as participate in creating all aspects of the Foundation’s marketing and communications efforts. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as key development staff
  • Help formulate fundraising strategies including efforts to increase funding from current and past donors and facilitate the expansion of funding from newly identified prospects
  • Direct and support major prospect activities including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
  • Oversee and coordinate marketing and communications
  • Be a goal driven “self-starter” to initiate donor visits, fundraising calls and special events. Travel as appropriate to meet with current and prospective donors
  • Develop and manage the annual development budget, assist in setting goals for fundraising
  • Provide as-needed reports to the Executive Director and Board
  • Coordinate annual appeal efforts to include writing letters, identifying prospects and oversight of mailing
  • Work closely with Executive Director to secure corporate sponsorships for exhibitions and events, as necessary
  • Plan, direct and manage aspects of the Foundation’s development efforts to include fundraising grant writing, cultivation of individual, corporate and foundation donors

 

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 years of proven successful development experience with a similar sized and/or national/international organization
  • Mission driven toward animal health issues a must
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, CFRE preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with a variety of constituencies including donors, volunteers, etc.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and contribute to the creative nature of the organization
  • Must be detail oriented with exceptional follow-through
  • Experience with Major Gifts and/or Comprehensive Campaign preferred
  • Ability to work independently from a remote office
  • Ability to distill information to inform the general public
  • Ability to teach fundamentals of fundraising
  • Strong time-management, project management skills
  • Administratively proficient

Experience with software programs including Microsoft Office and donor-tracking software

Familiar working within DonorPerfect

Familiar working with wealth screening, particularly through DonorSearch

Proficient with graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and Canva

Familiar with video editing software like CapCut or Premiere
