Bryant Group has partnered with Heartspring to seek an exceptional candidate for the role of Chief Development Officer who will also foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization, assuring that the organization’s corporate culture, systems, and procedures support fund development and vice versa. This executive-level role will oversee fund development, including capital campaigns, fundraising events, grants and a team of development professionals. Additional responsibilities will include the building of corporate policies regarding fund development, systems of accountability, compliance standards for donors and funding sources, and maintenance of appropriate systems for fund development.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide vital input, as the main authority on philanthropy, to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors for short- and long-term strategic and operational planning and positions within the organization.
  • Ensure that philanthropy and fund development are carried out in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision, strategies, and plans.
  • Inform the chief executive officer, development committee(s) and Board members on current trends, issues, challenges, and activities to facilitate policy making. Recommend policy positions concerning fund development.
  • Design and assure implementation of cost-effective fund development programs, employing economy while maintaining an acceptable level of quality and solid return on investment.
  • Lead all day-to-day operations of the development team and ensure productivity of programs and staff.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development and Marketing Team to ensure the alignment of fund development with branding and marketing.


Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree (MBA/MPA) preferred.
  • Minimum five years of nonprofit development experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience leading & managing staff, with preferred experience leading change and growth.
  • Experience leading a program raising at least seven figures annually.
  • Strong track record of personally raising gifts of six figures or higher.
  • Experience with Capital Campaigns of $10M or more.
  • Association of Fundraising Professionals membership & CFRE certification (preferred).


Hiring Range: Up to $215k, with additional incentives available
