Environmental Health Trust (EHT) is a Jackson Hole, Wyoming-based think tank that promotes healthy living and disease prevention through scientific study of preventable environmental health risks. We conduct and support cutting-edge research on environmental health hazards and work directly with communities, health and education professionals, and policymakers to understand and mitigate these hazards.

The Environmental Health Trust is currently in search of a Director of Fundraising with 5+ years of experience. The position is remote in the United States. This is a part- to full-time permanent assignment.

In this role, the director of fundraising will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and speaking with multi-year donors, the director of fundraising will drive Environmental Health Trust’s ability to fulfill its mission of improving healthy living and preventing exposures to human-made environmental toxins. 

The director of fundraising must have prior experience working on environmental health issues. 

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Identify and successfully apply to grant programs and funding offered by private foundations. 
  • Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in major gifts and grants.
  • Cultivate and steward a network of dedicated donors.
  • Write fundraising letters to individuals, foundations, and EHT subscribers.
  • Form strong relationships and ensure major donors are satisfied and kept in the loop.
  • Maintain donor lists and communications.
  • Develop and manage fundraising events and initiatives.
  • Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns.
  • Create marketing and promotional materials in conjunction with the communications team.
  • Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met.

  • Manage event logistics up to, and day of, events.
  • Communicate with lay leaders, members, and organization staff. 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 5+ years of fundraising management experience
  • 5+ years of progressive major gift fundraising - cultivating, securing and stewarding gifts of $25,000.
  • 3+ years of experience securing six and some seven-figure gifts preferred
  • A genuine interest in environmental issues.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • An ability to effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs.
  • Confidence in public speaking.
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • An ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers.
  • The ability to balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning big events.
  • A strong attention to detail.
  • An interest in research.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products, including building pitch decks and spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency with donor management software like EveryAction or Donor Perfect.
  • Optimistic attitude, positive spirit, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently in meeting annual fundraising goals.
  • Proficiency with email marketing platforms. 

Additional Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience working in the environmental health field.
  • At least five years of experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing.
  • Legal or accounting experience a plus.

Education: B.A. degree (or equivalent) in business, communications, public relations, or related field. Certification, diploma, or similar qualification in fundraising is preferred.

Hours: Part- to Full-Time 30-35 hours per week

Duration: Permanent

Location: Remote anywhere in the United States. Organization is based in Jackson, Wyoming.

Pay Rate: $75,000-$120,000
