Americans United for Life (AUL), a national non-profit law and policy organization based in Washington, DC, seeks a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to lead the development team at AUL in crafting and executing a strategy for donor engagement, advancement of major donors, emerging peer-to-peer fundraising, and all lines of revenue supporting the growth of mission at AUL. The CAO will devise cultivation and growth strategies among current and prospective donors, create a pipeline and forecast of support for the organization, launch planned giving and endowment strategies, leverage Virtuous CRM and other tolls to manage forecast and pipeline, and work proactively to diversify fundraising via events, peer-to-peer programs, and other strategies. In close collaboration with the development team, the CAO will develop philanthropic best practices, implement creative strategies, and oversee the significant expansion of revenue over the next several years. This position will provide direct management of the development team. The CAO will report to the CEO and will serve as a member of the AUL Executive Team. Requirements include a bachelor's degree; ten years of experience in a fundraising role with proven success in driving major donor strategies; donor engagement and solicitation plans, database management (using a CRM system), and staff leadership; experience leading event-based and/or peer-to-peer fundraising programs; and a demonstrated servant-leadership mentality. This position is remote. Regular travel is expected. Compensation, including generous benefits, are commensurate with experience.
