The Center on Rural Innovation (CORI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization partnering with rural leaders across the country to build tech economies that support scalable entrepreneurship and lead to more tech jobs in rural America.
Position Overview:
The Center on Rural Innovation (CORI) is seeking an experienced, organized, and motivated Grants Manager to join our growing fundraising team. In collaboration with the Director of Development, the Grants Manager will have primary responsibility for developing and writing compelling grant proposals across the organization’s foundation and corporate fundraising efforts. They will also be responsible for management of the full grants cycle, including prospect research, documentation, and reporting. As CORI scales up its grant-seeking operation, a critical component of this role will be improving and establishing internal grant project management systems. This individual will also provide writing and editing support for government grants. The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience writing successful grant proposals, top-notch project management skills, and a deep commitment to advancing economic inclusion for rural communities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Writing, editing, and submitting high-quality grant proposals, grant applications, letters of inquiry, and reports.
- Proactively researching potential funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and other grant-making entities.
- Collaborating with teams across the organization to gather information necessary for proposals and reports.
- Maintaining grant pipeline and calendar and documenting funder communications in DonorPerfect.
- Establishing and implementing project management workflows for proposal development and post-award coordination with internal teams.
- Tracking and reporting on the status of grant applications to inform budget and cash flow management.
- Ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and reporting deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years’ experience in grant writing in a nonprofit organization, with a demonstrated track record of successful grant proposals and grant project management.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and accurate proposals and reports.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information from various sources and for different audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of grant policies, procedures, and processes, including working knowledge of grant funding research tools.
- Experience building and implementing new grant tracking systems
- Familiarity with nonprofit operations and fundraising strategies.
- Experience using donor relationship management systems (DonorPerfect preferred), project management tools (Monday.com), Google Suite, and Slack.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred); relevant experience may substitute for education.

- Technical writing skills/experience
- Familiarity with the economic inclusion funder landscape
- Project management experience

The salary for this position is $70,000 - $80,000, depending on experience
All CORI employees can expect to travel a minimum of twice per year for all-staff gatherings. This role may require additional of up to three trips per year.
