We’re researchers, strategists, collaborators, and grantmakers.

The ClimateWorks Foundation team is on a mission to end the climate crisis by amplifying the power of philanthropy.

Over the past decade, we’ve built a global platform for philanthropy to innovate and accelerate climate solutions that scale. Our global programs and services equip philanthropy with knowledge, networks, and solutions to drive climate progress. Since our founding in 2008, ClimateWorks has granted over $1.8 billion to more than 850 grantees advancing climate solutions around the world.

Sitting within our Programs team, the Global Energy Transition Initiative (GETI) is a customized partnership between Bloomberg Philanthropies and ClimateWorks Foundation, with a single mission: to deliver high-impact and immediate actions to drive a country-level transition from coal to clean energy that is in line with the global 1.5 °C pathway. We are now seeking a Director for GETI who will lead an internationally diverse and remote-based team of dedicated energy sector experts engaging in multiple countries around the world to use philanthropic investments to accelerate the clean energy transition.

Reporting to ClimateWorks’ Vice President of Programs, the central focus of the Director for GETI position is leading the team to deliver impact and overseeing all operations for the initiative, including planning and managing financial resources, ensuring effective and efficient distribution of funds to grantees, providing cross-team coordination, and strategic alignment across the team's activities. Candidates must have a commitment to excellent team management and program operations practices, along with experience in global energy transition / clean power efforts. In addition, the position requires operations, collaboration, and communication skills with a commitment to strong process management. The Director for GETI will be responsible for building a strong culture of collaboration, communication, transparency, trust, encouragement, and learning, as well as serving as the primary contact for operational and strategic coordination with our partners at Bloomberg Philanthropies.

For US based candidates, the salary range is $190,000-$220,000, depending on experience level and where the candidate lives. For candidates outside the US, salary will be adjusted based on country-level salary ranges and experience.

ClimateWorks Foundation is based in the San Francisco Financial District. Preference given for candidates in the Bay Area willing to work in the office several days a month, however strong candidates outside the Bay Area, including international candidates, who are willing to accommodate significant work in PST time zones will be considered. Candidates must be able to work across time zones, especially US West and East Coast, China, Singapore, Burma, Indonesia, Western Europe, UK, and East Africa.
