THE OPPORTUNITY: Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President will set the vision and strategic direction of Heifer Foundation and its $200M endowment, build a culture of care, collaborate with sister organization, Heifer International’s CEO, cultivate key donor relationships, and manage relations with the Board of Trustees.
PRIORITIES DURING YOUR FIRST YEAR
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
SET THE VISION AND STRATEGIC DIRECTION OF HEIFER FOUNDATION AND ITS $200M ENDOWMENT - 40%
- Lead the organization, working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, in the development and implementation of a long-term vision, strategies, and goals.
- Alongside the VP of Investments and Finance, oversee the investment program and the primary fiduciary duty of making investments that support Heifer International’s goals and enable mission-aligned programs.
- Identify opportunities for optimizing internal systems and processes in close collaboration with the leadership team.
BUILD A CULTURE OF CARE THAT EMPOWERS TEAMS - 20%
- Foster cross-functional collaboration and cohesiveness across a team of 14.
- Together with the VP of People and Culture, develop and retain team members; ensure they have the support and resources to achieve their goals and grow personally and professionally.
COLLABORATE WITH HEIFER INTERNATIONAL’S LEADERSHIP - 20%
- Thought-partner with Heifer International's CEO to align strategies and initiate team collaboration, particularly as their programs evolve to meet global needs.
- Maximize opportunities to deepen donor relationships and knowledge sharing.
- Explore innovative financial models and partnerships that enable Heifer International’s programs.
CULTIVATE AND STEWARD DONOR RELATIONS - 10%
- Collaborate with the VP of Planned Giving and team to cultivate existing and future key donor relations, and amplify the stories and impact of investments made.
- Serve as external thought leader and ambassador of the foundation at speaking engagements, conferences, and philanthropic convenings.
MANAGE AND NURTURE RELATIONS WITH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES - 10%
- Engage and assemble a diverse Board of Trustees; leverage their strengths to advance the mission, and provide the tools and transparency necessary for effective governance of the organization

You actively work to understand investment models that challenge conventional approaches, including impact investing.You influence and prioritize making mission-aligned decisions.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:
TRAVEL: In order to be successful, the new President will be expected to spend a substantial amount of time in Little Rock, AR during the first year in order to establish relationships with Heifer Foundation and Heifer International staff. Additional travel includes: 1 to 2 international trips to Heifer communities annually; 1 to 2 conferences per year; 3 board meetings per year. Although not required, a relocation stipend will be provided should the new President decide to relocate to Little Rock, AR.
