PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
70% Writing, Content, Publication Support and Multi-Channel Campaign Creation
- Understand philanthropy audience strategies within American Prairie’s strategic marketing plan, and work with the VP of Philanthropy and Chief Philanthropy Officer to prioritize donor communications and execute donor communications strategies.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, donor engagement. Work with the Senior Database Manager and Marketing team, driving accountability for philanthropy results of marketing and communications efforts and using metrics and data analytics to make informed decisions.
- Adhere to Philanthropy and Marketing budgets, supporting prioritization of budgetary goals to execute needed philanthropic communications deliverables.
- Create targeted and meaningful communications for American Prairie’s philanthropic, donor-centric voice, while aligning with organizational brand standards and communication planning. Key project areas include the following priorities:
- Serve as a Marketing and Philanthropy team resource for copywriting and copy review.
- Forever Wild Comprehensive Campaign: Working with Marketing team and contractors, responsible for overseeing creation of a campaign website, campaign communications and reporting and announcements, maintaining a dynamic and evergreen, campaign collateral, donor proposals, donor and event presentation decks, and volunteer resources.
- Multi-channel appeals to donor base: Working with Philanthropy team, Senior Database Manager, annual fund and design contractors, responsible for writing and overseeing design and execution of multi-channel appeals to American Prairie’s donor base, up to 4 times annually.
- Sentinel Magazine: Working with Marketing team and design contractors, contribute to the planning, content development, and publication biannually.
- Ken Burns American Heritage Prize: Working with Philanthropy Events team, responsible for creating and executing event communications on an annual basis, including event website, prospectus, and invitation packages, and opportunities for event promotion, including nominee profiles and stories, National Jury and past Prize recipient engagement, and multi-channel and media storytelling.
- Prairie Legacy Society: Create collaterals for members, including newsletters, donor profiles, and storytelling to highlight this important donor group.
- Monthly donors: Create targeted communications for monthly donors.
- Montana donors: Contribute to targeted communications to Montana donors.
30% Marketing and Philanthropy Liaison
- Represent Marketing on the Philanthropy team to maximize the utilization of marketing strategies, industry standards, and content in support Philanthropic outreach and communications.
- Serve as the marketing liaison and communications strategy expert for the Philanthropy team, introducing marketing requirements and opportunities early in the strategic process and providing support and guidance throughout execution and creation of projects and deliverables.
- Meet regularly with Philanthropy team members, assessing needs and providing individual support and solutions.
- Attend and actively participate in all Marketing team meetings.
- Attend and actively participate in donor strategy, gift officer, and philanthropy operations meetings.
- With the Marketing and Philanthropy teams, manage external creative and contracted resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Enthusiasm for and positive representation of American Prairie’s Mission, goals and culture.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Marketing and/or Philanthropy, preferably within the non-profit space.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or another related field.
- Proven success at contributing to a marketing and communications strategy for a nonprofit or philanthropic cause pursuing major giving across national or international donor base.
- Demonstrated experience managing long-term (6+ months) and short-term projects.
- Ability to translate complex ideas and data into compelling copy and a consistent voice that reflects the organization’s branding and mission.
- Demonstrated success integrating multiple channels (print, digital, social) as part of an overall outreach and engagement strategy.
- A proactive work ethic motivated by achieving and surpassing goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task with a high level of productivity and accuracy.

Preferred
- Experience as a member of a Philanthropy team in donor relations or as a communications lead.
