Qualifications: Extensive experience and success in leading a major gifts program, prior supervisory experience, and a deep interest in data-informed, leadership giving best practices and industry trends. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail. Intermediate knowledge of Word and Outlook. Regional and local travel, as needed. Valid New York State driver’s license. Experience with development software, including Raiser’s Edge, preferred.
Physical Requirements: This position works in a typical office setting but may be briefly exposed to extreme temperatures in a warehouse setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities to alter physical position or change eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 30 pounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
Major Giving & Donor Relations
· In partnership with the CAO, VP of Philanthropy, and VP of Institutional Giving, leads the strategy to raise significant contributed income through the Regional Food Bank’s Leadership Giving Program, with particular focus on 6 counties in the Hudson Valley.
· Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of Food Bank programs; case for support; and national, state, and regional hunger and food insecurity statistics.
· Plans, implements, and continually evaluates major gift fundraising and engagement strategies, including the creation and implementation of a leadership circle, donor-specific engagement strategies, prospect research, identification, cultivation, and stewardship.
· Fosters and maintains positive relationships with current and potential major giving donors through proactive relationship development, high-level donor events, preparing compelling proposals, engaging Food Bank leadership in asks, and developing creative acknowledgement vehicles unique to the Regional Food Bank, as appropriate.
· Focuses a significant portion of their attention on activating new donors and engaging existing donors in Hudson Valley, while expanding strategy throughout 23-county service area.
· Works with colleagues to identify and convert mid-level annual donors to major donors.
· Identifies and cultivates planned giving donors in partnership with CAO.
· Partners with Programs, Operations, and Finance leadership to ensure transparent and timely cross-department collaboration.
· Identifies, researches, and communicates major giving and fundraising trends and policy developments that may impact the Food Bank.
· Cultivates a deep understanding of major giving landscape among leadership.
· Participates in and leverages Feeding America network resources.
· Hires and supervises (2) major gift officers.
· Maintains accountability for administrative systems and procedures related to major giving, routinely utilizing iWave, Monday.com, RE NEXT, and other applications.
· Analyzes major donor data to inform giving and engagement strategies.
· Other duties as assigned.
Community Outreach
1. Attends networking events on behalf of the Food Bank to increase professional network, refine relationship management skills, and enhance outreach and capacity.

2. Works independently and collaboratively with other departments and employees in support of the mission of the Food Bank;
3. Assists Advancement team colleagues with fundraising events and administrative duties, as needed;
4. Serves as an active and engaged member of the executive team;
5. Maintains a positive outlook and actively contributes to a culturally responsible and collaborative workforce.

Responsible for directing the Food Bank’s Leadership Giving Program, developing and leading the strategy to maintain and increase major giving revenue to support its work in 23 counties of New York State, the VP of Leadership Giving will implement a major donor cultivation strategy for all stages of the donor life cycle, particularly in the Hudson Valley, convert mid-level annual donors to major donors, hire and supervise major gift officers, craft compelling proposals, engage leadership in significant asks, ensure high-quality donor communications and relationships, ensure timely and proper recognition and stewardship, and meet or exceed annual major gifts fundraising goals.
Status: Full-time (40 hours) Non-Exempt
Starting Rate: $100,000 annual salary
