Associate Director of Alumni Relations

New York Law School (NYLS), located in the heart of Tribeca, seeks an exceptional individual to serve as its new Associate Director of Alumni Relations. The Associate Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive program that engages and stewards donors, prospects, alumni, and other partners to deepen relationships with NYLS and grow philanthropy through dynamic events, compelling communications, and volunteer engagement.

The Associate Director will be an integral member of the Office of Institutional Advancement and will report to the Associate Dean and Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Engagement and Chief Development Officer. A highly visible and collaborative role, the Associate Director works closely with various partners within the Offices of Institutional Advancement and Marketing and Communications, and across the School. A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment and will be nimble and eager to support colleagues in advancing the mission of the School and Office.

Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee a comprehensive engagement and stewardship plan and calendar, which will involve:

  • Ensuring proper stewardship of donor scholarships, Commencement Awards, and other recurring donor funds.
  • Assisting in stewarding John Marshall Harlan II Society members.
  • Assisting with Annual Fund stewardship, including managing volunteers to strengthen Alumni Celebration and Giving Day efforts.
  • Developing and executing the Alumni Association Board engagement strategy.
  • Executing the Student Group Alumni stewardship plan.

Design, manage, and execute logistics for all alumni and community events.

Prepare and manage various alumni communications, including the eNewsletter.

Work with key internal and cross-departmental partners to enhance engagement and stewardship efforts.

Represent the Office of Institutional Advancement and its priorities, as well as the School’s interests and mission, in both internal and external meetings and events.

Manage student ambassadors.

Fulfill any other duties needed to help drive the School’s goals, priorities, and outcomes; support its mission; and abide by its organizational values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3–5 years of relevant event and fundraising experience, preferably in an institution of higher education and/or with the legal community.
  • Proven track record of project management and an aptitude for innovation to enhance the current program.
  • Excellent planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Customer-service-oriented professional who is highly responsive to donor, staff, and volunteer needs.
  • Self-motivated performer with attention to detail and a high level of productivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge or comparable donor database programs is essential.
  • Basic skills in Raiser’s Edge for reporting and navigating records are highly preferred.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Evidence-based decision-maker with strong analytical skills.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of diverse and multicultural constituencies, and interest and aptitude in working with a diverse community.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism, with an ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levels, both internally and externally.

Compensation:

This position offers an annual salary range of $80,000 to $85,000. We offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package.
