Position Summary

 

UIC’s mission drives all we do. In support of the university’s mission to provide the broadest access to the highest levels of educational, research, and clinical excellence, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement (OVCA) builds and strengthens relationships with UIC’s constituencies and drives them toward advocacy for and investment in the university’s priorities.

 

OVCA seeks an ambitious, strategic, collaborative leader as the next Senior Director of Prospect Development and Analytics. The Senior Director (SD) provides leadership and expertise to the fundraising teams and efforts by maintaining and growing a comprehensive prospect management program that includes metrics accountability, data analytics and reporting activities, strategy coordination, and thoughtful management of prospects through the prospect/donor lifecycle.

The SD develops and executes long- and short-term departmental goals and strategies to ensure portfolio movement, pipeline development, and reporting are aligned with broader university and OVCA objectives and fundraising strategies.

The SD has two direct reports and will hire additional team members in the coming year and beyond. As a senior leader on the Operations, Talent & Culture team in the OVCA, the SD will help establish and maintain productive and collaborative partnerships across the team, department, University, and University of Illinois Foundation.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent • Eight years of relevant experience required • Knowledge and understanding of fundraising prospect management principles and methods • Experience with fundraising databases and software • Strong strategic thinking, project management, and training skills • Ability to set priorities and exercise critical thinking skills to determine the best use of resources for reaching goals to support the university’s mission.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with higher education development • Experience in a complex fundraising environment • Personal initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, flexibility, and strong problem-solving skills • Ability to combine the art of fundraising with the science of data and processes • Ability to blend strategic oversight with practical application. • Ability to interpret, analyze, and synthesize information and appropriately communicate the information to disparate audiences
