Strategic and Visionary Leadership
The Executive Director will lead strategic planning processes to ensure CAAM not only maintains its position as a leading public media organization but boldly redefines what it means to be a cultural and social catalyst in the media landscape. They will rally the team, including Board and staff, to identify and embrace a unified vision for the organization moving forward, ensuring that every stakeholder is aligned and inspired by a shared purpose. They will understand the unique challenges facing the AAPI community, particularly in the context of media and affirmative action, and be well-connected within national AAPI organizations and, preferably, the independent film space. Working closely with the Director of Programs, they will oversee all programmatic aspects of the organization including broadcast distribution, CAAMFest, educational distribution, co-productions, Media Fund, digital media, and talent development, ensuring that programming remains at the forefront of innovation and sets new standards for engagement and impact.
Business Acumen and Management Excellence
The Executive Director will have a deep understanding of nonprofit management, including goal setting, financial oversight, and budget management. Collaborating closely with the Director of Finance and Administration, the Executive Director will oversee the organization's business affairs, formulate annual budgets, conduct quarterly financial reviews, and approve expenditures. In addition to financial acumen, the Executive Director will prioritize effective management of staff, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and collaboration. They will ensure that team members are empowered, aligned with CAAM's mission, and equipped with the resources they need to succeed, creating a culture of accountability, innovation, and shared success.
Board Relations
The Executive Director will coordinate Board meetings, regularly reporting on fiscal, programmatic, legislative, and administrative matters, and manage ongoing communication with the National Board of Directors to ensure seamless interaction between staff and volunteers. In this role, they will work closely with the Board to align organizational goals with strategic priorities, fostering a collaborative relationship that leverages the Board's expertise and networks. The Executive Director will also play a key role in Board development, ensuring that members are well-informed, engaged, and equipped to support CAAM's mission. By cultivating a strong partnership with the Board, they will drive the organization's long-term vision, ensuring that both leadership and governance are unified in advancing CAAM's impact in the public media landscape.
External Relations and Fundraising
Serving as a prominent face of the organization, this leader will eloquently represent CAAM and maintain active and positive relationships with filmmakers and producers, local and national AAPI community leaders, local and national arts and media arts organizations, and the funding community. They will also act as the primary organizational spokesperson to the AAPI community, governmental entities, and national public media entities, on matters related to diversity and public media. Strengthening the brand and voice of the organization, the Executive Director will lead the organization's Board and staff in the overall fundraising strategies, including a capital campaign, and daily execution of donor cultivation, grants management, and contract compliance.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $190,000 - $235,000 with a generous benefits package.
