Develops and implements the vision for institution-wide international and parent outreach, engagement, and philanthropy. Serves as a frontline, external fundraiser, with a focus on philanthropy and fundraising in domestic and key international markets from parents and alumni. The primary responsibility is to identify, expand, diversify, and cultivate relationships with prospective and existing donors, to successfully close major and principal level gifts, and development prospect and donor relationships with the University.
- Directs all fundraising activities relative to International and Parent Philanthropy. Develops, plans, and implements strategies to secure gift funding from major and principal level donors in support of the fundraising priorities of the University with a focus on parent and international philanthropy
- Establishes and proactively manages a portfolio of up to 150 potential partners, donors, and prospects whose profiles and FIU affinity make them likely to make a gift. Manages prospective donors, meetings, and other institutional performance metrics, achieving and exceeding annual fundraising metrics. Participates in and adheres to university-wide prospect management guidelines and protocols for cultivation and stewardship of donors and prospects. Complies with University policies and meets minimum performance standards as well as achieves annual established goals.
- Establishes and maintains a Parent Philanthropy Council the membership of which will engage in planning strategy and implementing parent volunteer philanthropy programs.
- Monitors progress towards achieving fundraising goals. Meets the annual goal for personal contacts as well as the agreed-upon annual fundraising metrics established by foundation leadership to promote fundraising priorities and move donors along the lifecycle of giving. This includes thoughtful content deployment, regular travel (both domestically and internationally), event design and execution as well as volunteer management. Reports regularly to foundation leadership.
- Develops and implements a strategically planned travel schedule to meet with prospects and donors, aligned with strategies and outcomes, in consultation with foundation leadership. A willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally as need to engage prospects and donors in face-to-face meetings.
- Organizes, promotes, and maintains collaborative working relationships with key faculty, leadership, staff, and volunteers in support of FIU. Works in tandem with development professionals across academic disciplines and industries, as well as other unit deans, and directors to advance the mission of FIU. Collaborates with other foundation team members to inspire trust, encourage creative thinking, and collaborate with other FIU staff and volunteers to significantly increase gifts to FIU. Serves as a liaison with volunteer groups supporting the University.
- Documents contact and prospect moves, tracking progress using the approved foundation CRM , adhering to Foundation prospect management guidelines and protocol.
- Drafts, designs, and prepares proposals needed for the solicitation of prospective donors. Collaborates with Editorial Services as appropriate.
- Directs all fundraising activities and initiates the development of donor cultivation, development of proposals, and solicitations of gifts and grants at the major and principal gift levels, specifically focused on the unit. Responsible for stewardship and oversight of gifts and grants related to advancement within the assigned unit. Ensures the awarding of scholarship funds, established by charitable donations and for stewarding scholarship gifts as assigned from corporations and partners. May plan, oversee, and manage donor stewardship activities including recognition and gift acknowledgment in collaboration with Donor Relations & Stewardship. Manages all events for stewardship and solicitation, as needed.
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits. Displays honesty, integrity, and ethics to donors. Attends all Development and Advancement-related meetings.
- Represents the University at public functions as needed. Handles donated funds in the form of checks, stocks, or other negotiable securities. Displays a high degree of confidentiality. Has access to confidential information regarding gifts and donors.
