The Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) is the foremost fashion-oriented education and workforce development nonprofit in the U.S. The FSF works directly with the country's most talented young students from diverse backgrounds and awards over $1.4 million each year in scholarships to help these students succeed in all sectors of the industry including design, merchandising, marketing, and business strategy. The FSF also provides scholars with a wide range of internship and career opportunities, mentorship, networking, professional development, and unprecedented access to the industry's most influential leaders and companies.

Position Summary:

The Fashion Scholarship Fund is looking for an Internship and Mentoring Program Manager to join our organization. The Internship and Mentoring Program Manager will report directly to the Head of Education Programs, and to the Head of the Virgil Abloh™ “Post-Modern” Scholarship Program. With 160+ new Scholars each year, 2,700+ young professional Alumni, and 400+ industry leaders who serve as FSF Mentors, this is a great opportunity to join a rapidly growing organization with a strong mission to support young and diverse talent who have an interest in pursuing a career in fashion. The successful individual in this position is extremely organized, conscientious, and detail-oriented, with excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:

  • Partner with 200+ existing recruiters at 65+ fashion companies and brands
  • Support the placements of the current Class of 160+ Scholars in internships and full-time jobs to achieve 100% placement for the Scholars who are seeking opportunities
  • Ensure that internships and full-time jobs secured by the FSF are high-quality, paid, or for credit opportunities
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of internship placements for its Scholars each year
  • Survey the current Class of 160+ Scholars to identify companies that are of interest to them
  • Establish connections at the companies that are of interest to Scholars, where FSF is not already connected
  • Collect and organize monthly job opportunities from recruitment partners that may be socialized to FSF Scholars and Alumni, and posted on on FSF’s website
  • Assist with recruiting partners to participate in the FSF’s virtual Talent Acquisition Events
  • Review Scholar and Alumni resumes, and provide recommendations 
  • Coach, prepare, and follow up with Scholars and Alumni for interviews
  • Ensure all Scholar and Alumni interviews and job placements are well-noted and updated regularly in the CRM
  • Schedule FSF Internship Committee meetings, take notes, and follow up as needed

MENTORSHIP PROGRAM:

  • Seek new industry mentors and manage existing mentor relationships
  • Manage and organize the mentor application process
  • Manage the relationship and success of the 100K Mentoring platform to create effective mentor and mentee matches
  • Onboard new mentors and mentees through the 100K Mentoring platform by leading info sessions
  • Assign and virtually introduce mentors to mentees when not connected through the 100K Mentoring platform
  • Follow up with mentees to utilize the 100K Mentor platform meeting preparation tool kit
  • Ensure partner companies are updated on mentor/mentee relationships
  • Implement online training for FSF Mentors to create more engagement between Mentors and Mentees
  • Implement a near-peer Mentoring strategy
  • Research other mentoring opportunities and programs (ex: group mentorship, post-graduate mentorship, and leadership training)
  • Explore opportunities with mentors to commit to multi-year Mentorship
  • Manage Alumni volunteers and mentors for Community College Scholars
  • Ensure the Mentorship Program marketing collateral is updated on a regular basis
  • Schedule FSF Mentorship Committee meetings, take notes, and follow up as needed

Desired Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the Fashion Scholarship Fund
  • Undergraduate degree required
  • 2-3+ years of recruitment, educational, and/or non-profit experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, and in Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • Experience working with Salesforce is a plus
  • Detail-oriented, extremely organized, and a self-starter
  • Professional demeanor and an ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency 
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Quick learner who strives in a fast-paced environment
