Job Summary/Basic Function:
About This Role:

This position serves in the Division of University Advancement, reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement, managing the annual giving process along with related stewardship/donor relations responsibilities.

What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements a strategic plan of action with objectives, timelines and evaluation plans for the Annual Fund program that includes identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of constituents.
  • Organizes, manages, and supervises the university's annual giving day, “Red Day,” including working closely with vendors, university colleagues, and volunteers to ensure the success of the event, including media and other promotions as appropriate.
  • Creates and administers a program to solicit gifts from alumni and friends including mail programs for the Annual Fund working in coordination with Alumni Affairs.
  • Responsible for developing appeals through media and technology including but not limited to direct mail, email, web, and phone/text.
  • Works closely with Associate Vice President for University Advancement and personnel in other colleges and departments to ensure coordination with their respective fundraising efforts.
  • Working with Advancement Services and consultants, perform comprehensive analysis related to all aspects of the Annual Fund program. Uses metrics to evaluate current Annual Fund programs and to make recommendations for program changes.
  • Ensures open communication with Major Gift Officers (MGOs) and enlists their help with sharing Annual Fund opportunities during personal solicitations.
  • Identifies Annual Fund donors who, by virtue of their giving amount and/or frequency, could be viable major gift prospects, and shares that information regularly with MGOs.
  • Develops and implements a plan of reporting of Annual Fund progress to the university and related constituents.
  • Supervises and manages stewardship and donor relations position(s) to ensure effective communication with donors, including production and distribution of scholarship letters.

  • Demonstrated computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent listening and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and manage deadlines efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise personnel.

Physical Requirements:
  • Light lifting (supply boxes, etc.) occasionally may be required; otherwise, traditional office requirements can be expected.

Job Conditions:
  • The work environment is on-campus, generally in a traditional office setting, although occasional activities and meetings elsewhere on campus can be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (in any discipline).
  • 3 years of related experience, including at least 1 year of directly related experience in fundraising or development.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of related experience, including at least 3 years of directly related experience in fundraising or development.
  • Experience in annual giving or marketing and interest in advancement field.
  • Willingness to engage in appropriate professional development opportunities.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues both within and outside the university
