Ignite Growth and Drive Impact at the Forefront of Social Change
The Nonprofit Quarterly (NPQ) isn't just a publication; it's a catalyst for change. We're a leading voice in the nonprofit sector, dedicated to advancing racial justice and equity through fearless journalism and thought-provoking analysis. We're seeking a visionary Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer (CMRO) to join our passionate team and amplify our impact on a national scale.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a renowned media platform. As CMRO, you'll be the architect of our revenue and marketing strategies, driving audience growth and engagement across all channels. You'll spearhead innovation, experiment with cutting-edge multimedia approaches, and build a robust technology infrastructure to support our ambitious goals.
What You'll Do:
- Lead with Vision: Develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy that seamlessly integrates marketing and revenue generation, ensuring NPQ's long-term sustainability and impact.
- Champion Growth: Own and oversee all revenue-generating activities, from memberships and subscriptions to advertising and strategic partnerships. Design a dynamic cross-platform revenue model that optimizes every touchpoint and unlocks new avenues for growth.
- Expand Our Reach: Lead audience development and marketing efforts to attract, engage, and retain a diverse and passionate readership. Craft compelling, data-driven campaigns that amplify our message and deepen audience engagement.
- Embrace Innovation: Spearhead the development of cutting-edge multimedia platforms, seamlessly integrating digital, social, and webinar channels to enhance the reader experience and expand NPQ's brand presence.
- Forge Powerful Partnerships: Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure alignment between marketing, revenue, and editorial goals. Cultivate strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations to extend our reach and amplify our impact.
- Be a Force for Change: Act as a public-facing representative of NPQ, advocating for a mission-driven media model that prioritizes equity, integrity, and social impact.
What You'll Bring:
- Strategic Acumen: A proven track record of leading marketing and revenue growth, preferably in the media industry.
- Audience-Centric Approach: Demonstrated success in membership acquisition, cross-platform marketing, and audience engagement.
- Digital Fluency: Expertise in multimedia and digital integration, with a deep understanding of leveraging technology to build brand and audience engagement.
- Passion for Equity: An unwavering commitment to advancing racial justice and equity, with a nuanced understanding of the social and economic issues impacting diverse communities.
- Leadership Excellence: A collaborative and inspiring leader with high emotional intelligence, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for mentoring and developing teams.
Our Ideal Candidate:
You're a strategic thinker and a passionate advocate for social change. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a deep understanding of the media landscape. You're energized by the prospect of building a sustainable future for a mission-driven organization. You're a champion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and you're eager to contribute to a workplace where all voices are heard and valued.
A Note to Candidates:
Our job description is a wish list, and we do not expect every candidate to be skilled equally in all these areas. Studies show that historically disenfranchised communities, such as women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ people, are less likely to apply if they don’t meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to being an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible workplace that fosters true belonging. If your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, please still apply. We’d also love to hear about experiences or expertise that you think is relevant but isn’t listed here.
Our Commitment to Inclusion:
We recognize that diverse teams make the strongest teams. NPQ is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. We strongly encourage candidates from historically marginalized communities to apply.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $160,000 - $180,000 per year, plus performance-based incentives. We are committed to providing fair and equitable compensation that reflects each team member’s contributions, experience, and expertise. All qualified candidates will be considered for this position, and final compensation will be based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
We provide a generous benefits package designed to support both your personal and professional well-being. Our offerings include generous paid programs for vacation, sick, personal leave, holidays, and wellness & restoration. We also offer a 403(b)-retirement plan with employer matching, comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as annual learning and development opportunities to support your growth. We believe in fostering a balanced, supportive work environment where our team can thrive.
Ready to Make a Difference?
If you're ready to join a dynamic team and contribute to a mission that matters, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your resume and a compelling cover letter to hr@npqmag.org.
Application Deadline: Dec 1, 2024 at 11:59pm
