PLANNED GIVING OFFICER

UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings) was founded in 1878 as the law department of the University of California and was the first law school in California. THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Planned Giving Officer manages UC Law San Francisco’s planned giving program, including its Legacy Society. It is a meaningful and exciting time to join UC Law San Francisco’s Advancement efforts. UC Law San Francisco is undertaking its largest private fundraising effort in over 145 years; has a Legacy Society with a membership of over 150; and is proud to have a community of dedicated alumni the Planned Giving Officer will partner with to expand legacy giving.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy, the Planned Giving Officer:
- Manages a portfolio of 125 – 150 planned giving prospects, focusing on securing new planned giving commitments, increased planned giving commitments from existing donors, as well as current use support from legacy donors.
- Oversees the Legacy Society, UC Law SF’s community of planned giving donors, including regular planning and implementing stewardship, events and engagement.
- Supports the Advancement Office and Chancellor & Dean’s office to identify planned giving prospects from managed major donor portfolios.
- Leads Planned Giving Committee of the UC Law San Francisco Board of Trustees, who support engagement and event attendance from Legacy Society members.
- Develops and executes comprehensive communications and marketing strategy to raise awareness of planned giving opportunities and increase Legacy Society membership.
- Completes other related responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, with preference for candidates who have advanced degrees.
- 3+ years of progressive and successful development experience in planned giving, preferably in higher education.
- Commitment to UC Law San Francisco’s vision to prepare its graduates to tackle modern legal challenges.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Stellar relationship building skills and ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally, as required.
