The Cradle of Liberty Council (COLC) is the local branch of Scouting America, changing the lives of ten thousand young people each year in Philadelphia, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.  COLC seeks an experienced fundraiser and networker to give leadership to securing funding of our life changing mission through annual special events and corporate support.  As our movement continues to grow year over year, this is an exciting opportunity to raise the bar to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to benefit from a high-quality Scouting program.

The Director of Special Events and Corporate Support will build and give leadership to committees of community and business leaders to elevate annual special events and program funding opportunities to net $1M annually within two years.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of recruiting strong event committees and top-level honorees, leading events to a best-in-class net return to the mission, and collaborating with a professional team of mission driven professionals.  The Director of Special Events and Corporate Support will report directly to the Chief Development Officer, and will work closely with high-ranking members of the Executive Board as well as business and community leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Cultivate, solicit and steward donors to elevate special event net revenue and corporate sponsorships to $1M annually within two years.

Recruit and develop relationships with new business and community leaders to engage as members of our event committees.

Brainstorm with the committee to recruit and engage top-level honorees for all special events.

Manage all event details to ensure a memorable event with a best-in-class net return to the mission.

Develop a year-round stewardship plan for event attendees with a goal of increasing donor retention and/or future support.

Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and Executive Board Members to convert attendees into major gift prospects and donors.

Ensure that all constituent management activities are properly and timely recorded in the CRM database (currently Blackbaud).

Serve as a community ambassador for COLC and the Scouting program by actively participating in networking and community events and industry associations such as AFP.
