Position Overview
Major Gifts Officer is a member of a robust fundraising team for one of the leading theaters in the United States. They are responsible for generating $4M+ through major donor fundraising, including the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual or family foundation donors and prospects capable of major gifts, with a focus on contributions from $6K and up. The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for a portfolio of individual major donors and prospects which could include the Southampton Society or other categories of high level donors. Serves alongside a Development team charged with raising in excess of $20M annually.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) was founded in 1935 in Ashland, OR, and has grown from a three-day festival of two plays to a nationally renowned theatre arts organization that presents a rotating repertory season of up to 10 plays and musicals, including illuminating interpretations of Shakespeare, other enduring classics, and new works. OSF productions have been presented on Broadway, internationally, and at regional, community, and high school theatres across the country. OSF received the 1983 Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre and is one of the largest nonprofit theatres in the nation with three stages, including an outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects. This will include working with existing donors as well as initiating new relationships with prospects with high capacity.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 200 prospects/donors .
- Strengthen the commitment of current donors through individual meetings, site visits, phone calls, office visits, special mailings and other relationship-building correspondence and activities.
- Collaborate with Development Team members to budget, design and produce donor-related events. Attend all major stewardship events and receptions.
- Prepare regular progress reports for the Director of Individual Giving.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of tracking systems; maintain accurate, concise and timely records including gifts, pledges, bio data and donor actions.
- Maintain a solid understanding of OSF’s Season including attending play readings and performances.
- Knowledge of OSF’s core programs in IDEA and Education and Engagement.
- Contribute to development team planning meetings and trainings, fundraising and organizational strategic planning meetings.
- In collaboration with the Event Coordinator, manage all event planning and execution involving high level donors.
- Actively participate as a contributing member of the full staff and serve as a positive ambassador for OSF’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Five years of development experience with proven success in individual major gift fundraising.
- Fluent with Microsoft suite, experience with Tessitura or similar CRM.
- Bachelor's Degree.
