Sales Manager (State and Local Health Departments) Part-Time 1099 Opportunity
The Sales Manager will lead customer acquisition and retention to drive sales of customized group training for APIC’s infection prevention and control courses. Clients will include departments of health and federal/state/local government. The position is responsible for developing and managing relationships with prospective group training clients. The Manager will support the training proposal, budget development, and contract negotiations in collaboration with the Program Manager of Grants and Business Development.
Requirements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proficient with Smartsheets, Sales Force, LinkedIn Sale Navigator.
- Bachelor’s degree. MPH or relevant public health department experience a plus.
- 3+ years’ experience in Sales
- Excellent time management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and projects.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to resolve cross-project dependencies and communicate with senior leadership.
- High- level interpersonal skills, as the program manager needs to influence without direct authority over many project teams.
- Strong focus on strategic oversight and ensuring alignment between projects and organizational units.
Summary
- Customer Acquisition & Retention:
- Identify new business opportunities.
- Manage major accounts, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Collaborate with marketing to drive lead generation initiatives and brand awareness campaigns.
- Sales and Account Management:
- Act as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for Departments of health and federal/state/local governments.
- Oversee day-to-date sales operations to ensure efficient processes and workflows.
- Track sales KPIs such as revenue, conversion rates, pipeline progression, and customer retention.
- Produce regular sales reports for senior managements, providing insights into performance, sales trends, and opportunities.
- Research and identify prospects.
- Track and report on sales funnel.
- Schedule and conduct prospect meetings to sell IPC training courses and educational products (i.e. membership, books).
- Work with the prospect to develop a mutually agreed upon proposal and budget.
- Negotiate and execute contracts in collaboration with the Program Manager of Grants and Business Development.
- Attend bi-weekly inter-departmental meetings and weekly team meetings.
- Maintain customer relationships to ensure successful completion of project requirements and address future training needs.
- Effectively communicate relevant project information to all team members, supervisor, and staff in other departments as needed.
- Support the proposal development and contract execution process for training sales in partnership with the Program Manager.
