Responsibilities

The Director of Division of University Advancement Communications/Editor in Chief of VIRES is responsible for the publication VIRES Magazine – the official publication of FSU Division of University Advancement bi-annually. Responsible for the design, production timelines, finances and budget management, and print and digital distribution of the magazine, and related projects. This position will also lead special Campaign issues of VIRES as well as campaign writing priorities in general including a PR strategy for DUA. Director must be aware of all aspects of university in order to amplify stories, share impact and work collaboratively with internal and external constituents maintaining a flow of communication to support DUA goals. This position will report directly to the Executive Director of the Division of University Advancement Communications.

Support storytelling through development of storyboards and scripts for alumni events.

Provide editorial and proofreading services to FSUAA departments’ marketing and communications materials as needed. Serve as needed on various campaign committees or lead special projects to ensure campaign is woven through all foundation, alumni association and thus division material (digital and print) where appropriate. Develop strategy to build robust digital and video content from VIRES working with colleagues in DUA.

Develop, execute and evaluate a new PR strategy for the division to support impact stories and further brand and campaign awareness.

Develop, manage and produce the DUA Annual Report working effectively across all units of DUA to procure information needed ultimately working with VP DUA on approval and distribution.

Dir DUA Communications & Editor in Chief of VIRES Magazine is responsible for the conceptualization, development and publication of a bi-annual magazine.

Hire and assign contract writers, photography, and video content for the print magazine and digital promotion.

Implement a clear production calendar with deadlines for colleagues.

Ensure robust plans for VIRES stories and profiles to give longevity to each issue through various mediums in DUA as well as enterprise wide.

Work with Executive Director of University Advancement Communications on vendor selection to enhance the quality of the publication.

Plan for and drive special Campaign publications, assets, and content working with University Communications.

Develop complex budget and manage finances for each issue and projects that further content for each issue;

Work collaboratively with FSU AA Business operations team on securing and acknowledging Sponsorship/ads; manage and evaluate revenue and grow opportunities in campaign environment.

Develop, implement, evaluate and report metric to ensure VIRES is to standards needed in campaign environment; Research, understand and implement industry best practices, conduct readership surveys;

Attend and support DUA and FSUAA activities/events as needed and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six years’ experience related to media, communications, and/or marketing services or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.

Valid FL or GA Driver's License or the ability to obtain.

Preferred

Previous publication experience.
